Manchester Climate Ready
Manchester Climate Ready (MCR) is a registered Community Interest Company, leading Manchester’s transition to a zero carbon, climate resilient future.
We set the city’s science-based climate targets, produce Manchester’s Climate Change Strategy - MCR: The Plan - to mobilise people and resources, and transparently report on progress. All to make sure Manchester stays on course to become zero carbon and climate resilient by 2038 at the latest.

Samantha Nicholson
Director
Sam has over 25 years’ experience in the sustainability field and is passionate about the positive role that cities can play in tackling the climate crisis. She provides strategic vision to the work of Manchester Climate Ready and champions the value of collaborative working. Since joining the Agency in October 2021, Sam has grown the Partnership’s membership and its value proposition, led the co-design of the city’s climate change targets, and secured over £2.75m for climate action in Manchester.

Anna Bond
Deputy Director
Anna brings expertise in shaping climate change and environmental legislation. She has a proven track record of delivering collaborative programmes that prioritise natural solutions for the benefit of people's health, well-being, and the environment. Anna joined Manchester Climate Ready in January 2022 and provides strategic and operational support, responsibilities include overseeing the delivery and implementation of MCR: The Plan through strategic partnerships and impactful projects.

Jane Houldsworth
Deputy Director
Jane is responsible for the development and implementation of numerous programmes, such as In Our Nature and the Climate Ready Youth Partnership, and smooth operational growth and delivery at Manchester Climate Ready. Jane came to MCR in January 2022, building on her 17 years of experience working in management roles at a range of NGOs in the environmental sector.

Ellie Bradley
Programme and Partnership Manager – Operations
Ellie is responsible for working with members of the Manchester Climate Ready Partnership to promote best practice and accelerate the city's decarbonisation and managing MCR’s financial and reporting operations. Before securing her current role she held a volutneer internship with MCR after graduating with a degree in geography from Manchester Metropolitian University.

Ellie Sherlock
Communications Lead
Ellie is responsible for the strategic delivery of communication outputs across the In Our Nature programme. Ellie started her communications career with an internship at Manchester Climate Ready back in 2017 after completing a degree in Environmental Science at the University of Plymouth. Following this, Ellie worked at The Wildlife Trust during which time she was also Chair of the Manchester Nature Consortium for a number of years before coming back to MCR in March 2023.

Sophie Jones
Community Support Lead
Sophie fosters community engagement and support for initiatives focussing on combatting climate change. Sophie brings with her a number of years of experience as a Programme Coordinator at Action for Conservation, where she engaged young people in taking action for the climate. Before this Sophie was involved in research and holds a degree in Zoology from the University of Edinburgh.

Elleni Stephanou
Senior Data Analyst
Elleni is responsible for data analysis and reporting that supplements intelligence across Manchester including annual emissions reporting, Manchester city's submission to the carbon disclosure project, and tracking the city's decarbonisation progress against MCR: The Plan. Elleni joined Manchester Climate Ready in September 2024 with a background in demography and environmental consultancy, and an Ecology degree from the University of East Anglia.
