YOUR CHANCE TO BUILD A COMMUNITY CLIMATE MOVEMENT IN OUR CITY

Manchester has committed to ‘play its full part in limiting the impacts of climate change and create a healthy, green, socially just city where everyone can thrive.’

Its vision is for a green city with walkable neighbourhoods, clean air, good jobs in successful businesses, warm homes and affordable energy, safe cycling routes and a public transport system that works for everyone.

The Manchester Climate Change Agency’s ‘In Our Nature’ programme is a £3.5m community climate programme, a flagship of the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund, involving multiple delivery partners with the aim to engage, empower and enable Manchester’s residents and communities to reduce their carbon footprints and build resilience to climate change.

To support delivery of the In Our Nature programme, we are seeking a Community Engagement Officer who will be responsible for:

-       Co-ordinating engagement activity and partnership work with local communities, partner organisations and businesses on climate change

-       Establishing climate positive projects

-       Ensuring a diverse range of communities and residents are engaged in the programme

-       Working closely with programme partners to create and share quality resources that support a range of communities in taking climate action.

The successful candidate will have experience of engaging and communicating with communities on climate themes. They will understand the positive climate action communities can take and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills. They will also need to be comfortable working independently and have a passion for working to deliver positive action on climate change.

More information can be found in the job description below.

The role will be employed by Manchester City Council and seconded into the Manchester Climate Change Agency. The starting salary is £32,909.
