Communications Officer

The Agency’s ‘In Our Nature’ programme is a £3.5m community climate programme, a flagship of the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund, involving multiple delivery partners with the aim to engage, empower and enable Manchester’s residents and communities to reduce their carbon footprints and build resilience to climate change.


To support delivery of the programme, we are seeking a Communications Officer who will be responsible for:

  • Delivery of a communications strategy for the programme
  • The production of communications assets, personally or through programme partners
  • Ensuring quality of communications materials and compliance with funder requirements
  • Supporting the wide dissemination of programme communications material


The successful candidate will have experience of engaging and communicating with communities on climate themes. They will have experience of producing communications assets and possess strong copywriting skills and excellent attention to detail. They will understand the principles of good design, content, digital marketing and brand. They will also need to be comfortable working independently and have a passion for working to deliver positive action on climate change.

The role will be employed by Manchester City Council and seconded into the Manchester Climate Change Agency. The starting salary is £32,984.

The role requires regular attendance in the Agency’s central Manchester office, with options for hybrid working.
